DESCRIPTION:Please come and join us on Sunday 23rd of October at either the 10.30 am or the 11.30 am session to plant some native wildflower bulbs.  These will be bluebells\, snake’s head fritillary\, wood anemones and celandine. We will continue to clear the Rhododendron\, refilling the dead hedges as well as stacking to be turned into pathway chippings. DESCRIPTION:Our next session will focus on traditional woodland management tool training.  This will be provided by one of the Countryside Officers from Dinton Pastures.   If you would like to attend\, please register by sending an email to events@friendsoffoxhill.org for more information. \n\n\n\nAs many of you know\, we have been using tools to clear the woodland of Rhododendron\, an invasive species.  Last October\, in the cleared area\, we planted native bulbs.  We went in search of them earlier this month and while the Bluebells were not as easy to spot as the wild garlic\, Ramson\, we found them both. DESCRIPTION:Thank you to everyone who joined us in March for our Conservation Working Party.  Please come and join us at our next meeting on Sunday 10th April\, meeting at the Conservation Area in Fox Hill Woods behind Dorset Way.  Everyone is welcome and no prior experience is necessary as there are a range of tasks to cater for all. \n\n\n\nFor this session we will continue to tackle the ditch clearance\, path clearance and edging.  This will probably be the last opportunity this season to clear the pathways as the ground will begin to get harder to work on.  In addition\, any Rhododendron cleared can now be stacked ready to be turned into pathway chippings.  Wheelbarrows may be useful but not essential.  If you can bring a spade or shovel\, it will help but we do have a collection of our own tools. \n\n\n\nPlease wear clothing with long sleeves\, long trousers\, sturdy shoes\, and bring a pair of gardening gloves.  Don’t forget to bring something to drink\, and eat\, if you so wish. \n\n\n\nAll work carried out is with the approval of Wokingham Borough Council. DESCRIPTION:Thank you to everyone who joined us on 16th January for our Conservation Working Party. \n\n\n\nPlease come and join us for our next session\, meeting at the Conservation Area in Fox Hill Woods behind Dorset Way.   On this session\, we will be concentrating on clearing the pathway and the ditch which run parallel to Dorset Way.  We will be moving logs to edge the pathway and pegging the logs in place.  There will be some clearing of undergrowth and some Rhododendron clearing.  We will not be putting woodchip onto the footpaths\, so wheelbarrows may be useful but not essential. SUMMARY:Conservation Bulb Planting
DESCRIPTION:Please come and join us on Saturday the 9th\,  between 11:00am and 1pm\, to plant some native wildflower bulbs.  These will be Ransom\, also known as Wild Garlic\, Bluebells\, and Wood Anemones.  This activity is suitable for all ages so families are welcome. \n\n\n\nAs well as the bulb planting\, the Countryside Officer from Wokingham Borough Council will be attending to answer your questions about woodland conservation. \n\n\n\nYou might like to bring: \n\n\n\nStrong gloves such as gardening gloves.Sturdy footwear would be advisable.Trowel if you wish\, although we will provide tools.Drink of water.\n\n\n\nTo find us\, enter the woods from the Dorset Way entrance opposite Heron Park and follow the path next to the stream towards the pylon line.
