SUMMARY:Conservation Working Party - November
DESCRIPTION:Please join our FOFH conservation working party in the woods. \nOur medium term aim is to work in one small area to create more light as this will increasebiodiversity. We are removing the invasive ground cover which is mainly holly and sycamore andusing this to create a dead hedge. Dead hedges encourage a greater variety of wildlife and make useof the scrub we have cleared. Most of the larger dead wood will be left unless it is impeding thegrowth of neighbouring trees. Dead standing wood that is not dangerous will also be left as this is avaluable habitat. \nOur sessions will begin with introductions and a short health and safety briefingWe will provide traditional woodland hand tools and instruction will be given. Everyone isencouraged to work within their capabilities and there will be a mixture of jobs. \nHalfway through we will stop for a short break and you are encouraged to ask at any time if youhave questions about the tools or the work you are doing. \nYou will need sturdy shoes\, warm waterproof clothing\, gardening gloves and something to drink – a flask of something hot is ideal for the winter months. \nIf you’re thinking of attending\, or would like more information please let us know by sending an email to events@friendsoffoxhill.org \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDorset Way entrance to Fox Hill woods\n\nView Larger Map
